ajtj99, thanks for your analysis of the SOXX.

I am also trying to make the connection between Intel and the Index. Intel has marched forward this week even though the SOXX has been selling off.
It is the biggest component.

It looks to me that all we saw was some profit in the group after such a strong move. Looks to be setting up for a major break past recent highs. The networkers have been doing well lately and that seems to suggest a broader based move on the Nasdaq.

To me the biggest key for the semis is going to be how well the retailers do this coming holiday season...so many chips make their way into products these days. I have been make note of the positive comments about start of the holiday shopping season. In addition, memory prices are not giving back most of their recent gains..seem to have stabilized at a little higher levels.

If retailers have ordered less than the demand (as someone on CNBC suggested), it will suggest a more sustainable bounce in the semiconductor sector, leading into next year.
At least that is the way I am playing this market and still continue to..semis, semis, semis.
If there is enough of a turnaround near term, the companies are going to let everyone know....that is how I see it unfolding end of this month and into the end of the year.

JMHO.
