acuransx: Please explain this NVTL

Webpage says:

Leveraging the 1xRTT CDMA networks with 1900 MHz frequencies, Merlin C201 provides wireless connectivity at speeds up to 153.6 kbps. Merlin C201 can also operate in circuit switched mode at 14.4 kbps. Merlin C201 provides wireless connectivity to Windows® 98, 2000, and Millennium Edition laptops.

I ask if it has speeds up to 153.6 kbps why would you want or need to use 14.4 kbps?

I used Verizons wireless 14.4 for my laptop for 1 1/2 years!
The 14.4 no good because it is to sssssllllllloooooooowwwww.
Also if Verizon did not have a tower in that area you had to pay very high fees per amount of usage.

Now if NVTL will have speeds of 153.6 all the time & have towers all over then I think you are on to something.

I'm very interested in that kind of speed.

What is the costs?
