Do you mean those two things taken together make for instability, or do you mean you think those two things are unstable individually? i.e.:

AthWiper PCs with Windows XP OS on them are unstable, or

AthWiper PCs are unstable, period.
Windows XP OS is unstable, period.

Your "guess" is incorrect. Tom's problems turned out to be driver related (motherboard drivers, nothing processor related).
