"let your fingers do the walking..." sounds like you have terminal monitoritis. the symptoms, to me, are major warning signs that your monitor is "code red" i'd do some shopping on the net and look for a good deal on a new monitor, (gee, they have some whiz-bang 19" flat screens). i hope i'm wrong, and others can give you some positive ideas, but my experience is once you get those symptoms, it likely new monitor time fairly soon. i don't believe a repair is worth the cost given the price of new monitors. good luck. larry

J.C. is there a snapping or arching sound while these lightning like flashes occur? This could be a high voltage power supply problem. Does the picture collapse vertically or horizontally while the flash occurs? This could be one of the drive oscillators circuitry breaking down, like a dielectric of a coil, transformer, who knows for sure. One thing is certain, it will get worse and eventually leave you without a picture. The time frame is anyones guess. I have a monitor that snaps and the picture goes dim then returns within a second or two. It happens sporadically, 0 - 3 times a day. Almost a year now since it started.

My solution: sit in front of the monitor, open wallet and chant "You can be replaced..." to appease the monitor Gods. ;-)

Regards,
Nick

Try tightening all your connections to the the monitor it might be a loose cable. I had a blue screen due to this and it was just the connections.

Try installing new drivers. It can't hurt.
