I originally derived my comments about global GDP and how the US percentage has increased, when I happened to catch some economist mention it some 6-9 months ago (his name eludes me.. but it might have been Bill Siedman on CNBC).

And I agree that wealth has been flowing from the periphery economies back to the US, if only out of fear that their assets will be arbitrarily confiscated by corrupt local officials, or some political revolution, or merely economic and political chaos creating hyper-inflation and depreciation of savings.

I sometimes think the world economy is comparable to the old one room school houses. You have the kids creating mischief amongst one another, and a school teacher who realizes that nothing of substance is going to be accomplished until some order is established so that an environment of learning can exist.

Well, the US is the "nun" who just got hit by a "beanie flipper" from a rebellious student and is wielding the ruler and "smacking knuckles" until we punish all of those who were involved.

Only then we can get back to the economic "lessons" that we all need to learn, namely how to create the conditions of global economic growth.
