I think there are very large regional differences. Hawaii is probably the most heavily affected State in the US. The State budget, which had been under pressure for ten years, now expects to have to cut another $150 million to balance the books in the coming year. Visitor arrivals are down 30% and you can feel the sense of economic gloom in the air. Retailers are doing very poorly indeed.
