Not much would be different, I imagine, Rascal. I am of the opinion that we may see, in days or years, a terrorist using a nuke against us. I don't obsess over it and do not believe such a thing can be stopped by superior intelligence or morality notions.

But I do not think the day it occurs is one day sooner or one day further removed, in spite of all occurrences between 9-11 and now.

There are a few economic and socio-political differences caused by the attack & counter-attack. But they pale in significance to the wake-up call about the pending threat to our nation and the world by terrorists pursuing wmd.

Thus, without 9-11, the chief difference would be that we would remain less aware of the threat posed by terrorists.
