TVI Corporation Awarded Contract to Support SAFE KIDS Buckle Up Program

GLENN DALE, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 6, 2002--TVI Corporation (OTCBB:TVIN) announced Wednesday that it had again been selected to provide tentage, signage, and accessory products to support the 2002 National SAFE KIDS Campaign's SAFE KIDS BUCKLE UP program.

SAFE KIDS BUCKLE UP is sponsored by the International Union, UAW and the General Motors (GM) Corporation. Through the UAW-GM Center for Human Resources (CHR) - a joint institution of the UAW and GM - and the General Motors Corporation, an additional $8 million will be committed to the SAFE KIDS BUCKLE UP program over the next year. The grant includes thirty Chevy Express Cargo Vans.

The SAFE KIDS BUCKLE UP program provides equipment, training, and funding to coalitions in all fifty states to conduct free inspections and training in the proper installation and use of child safety seats. Launched several years ago, the program received a major boost in 1999 when fifty-one Chevy Vans and supporting funding were donated.

The National SAFE KIDS Campaign is the first and only national nonprofit organization dedicated solely to the prevention of unintentional childhood injury - the number one killer of children ages 14 and under. Three hundred state and local SAFE KIDS coalitions in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico comprise the Campaign. Former U.S. Surgeon General C. Everett Koop, M.D., Sc.D., is chairman of the Campaign. Please see www.safekids.org for more information.

The contract requires TVI to provide four of its Vehicle Topper tents, six of its V-board signs, and various accessory items for each of the thirty vans.

Allen Bender, CEO, noted that TVI was previously selected to support the 1999 program which provided a van based inspection and training system to each of the fifty states. "We are most gratified to be selected again for this support role," he said, "and to be associated with such an important program." He noted that the initial state systems had been used numerous times, and had completed thousands of checkpoints, seminars, and safety fairs. "Our selection by the Program a second time validates the usefulness and performance of our unique tents and signs," he stated. "We are pleased with the convenience, reliability, and functionality they have demonstrated."

TVI is a leading supplier of quick erect tentage and signage, chem/bio decontamination systems, and thermal targets in its 25th year of operations. Its stock trades on the OTC Bulletin Board under symbol TVIN. Please visit the company's website at www.tvicorp.com. for more information.
