Looks like another "upside surprise" at work here. Most consumers are honest and have no problem with paying for value received. It is hard to reconcile the popularity of family licenses with all that "harm" that MSFT has supposedly done to the consumer though.

Even so, the upgrade market remains tiny: "Finally, most folks who buy a new PC already running Windows XP -- Microsoft says it sells nine of ten copies this way -- won't have to deal with product activation at all, he says."
