When one watches anything one brings ones own filters to understand the message being said. The thing I find amazing is the consistent inability of the vacant liberal mind to grasp time and perspective in time.

If this paragraph is your interpretation of what was said
They emphasized that the American public had gotten an extremely skewed view of the war because of all the overemphasis on the precision bombing footage..... that nobody, absolutely nobody for one second thought that the air war there would do anything more---at best---than to prepare the battlefield and buy some time to strategically position the attacking forces (i.e., the Army). I think that is precisely what happened. They actually were upset (but not surprised) because for the first several weeks, despite incredibly intense air strikes (yes, with high-tech surgical targeting) and naval bombardment, there was practically zero effect on the enemy's position, strength, or supply lines.

Well there is no accounting for how a vacant liberal mind gets the messages wrong. Well let's say the vacant liberal mind cannot learn from and understand the common sense that comes from the analysis of what was thought and how is was wrong. What you highlight is that they did not know what effects all the attacks were having. The three days of ground attack demonstrated exactly what the bombing had done. In Afghanistan we now know what effects Carpet bombing has. After such an assault the defending troupes can be mopped up by a rag tag army of infighting goat herders.

That is the effect of Carpet and precision bombing to decapitate and destroy communication and destroy the hearing of the enemy. When those who are still alive all have blood running from the ears and noses they are very prone to raise their hands to the heavens at the first sign of salvation. Salvation is an enemy soldier to surrender to to end the ordeal.

You don't see how silly defending your positions are by using the perspective of those telling the story during as opposed to after. The military was surprised by their success. But they learned and studied the causes and effects. Afghanistan is the result. The question was could a rabble route defenders tenderized by Carpet bombing and precision bombing. Well the answer is a resounding YES.

Hello Walkingshadow. The thing that bothers me about the media etc.. talking about how the bombing isn't doing any good is this. We were very close to stopping the strikes on the taliban during this encounter. Why? Because everyone said it wasn't doing any good. Including the taliban. If they could have shut down the bombing with public sentiment they would still control Afganistan. The truth was(as we found out this past week) the bombing was very effective(demoralizing the heck out of the enemy for one thing). But you must admit, at one point it seemed we were wasting our efforts by dropping bombs. That's what the enemy wanted us to think.

Have a good one.
