random thoughts as I drink a cup of coffee and decide if I want to dig in furthered this morning(especially while the family is still sleeping)

Vases are still too tacky to begin trimming- I cheat on the trimming process. A number of years ago, I invested in something called the Griffin Grip. Basically it fits on the wheel and with these three dowels(different sizes) with padding on the side that comes into contact with the piece, basically put;; the pot right into center, just like that. It must save me a few minutes per piece, and it always comes out true center. Ahhhhhh !!!! :)))) No more clay wedges falling off, no more pieces spinning off the wheel into the recycle bin. Cheating at it's most perfect form!

I really like the idea of having my studio here at the house, but my main part has now turned into the computer room(where I do this stuff) and my wheel is out in the garage. My paragon kiln(which I use for bisque firing of production ware is also in the garage. SO I will have to transport all bisque ware a few miles to where my gas kiln is.

No heat in the garage, and partially carpeted(long story), so I am hoping/planning on moving the whole project to one central place. It's about a 150,000 sq.ft. warehouse and the owner has been generous enough to partition off enough space for my wildest dreams of space. and always maintains at least 60°.

Yes, I think after I get enough to do a bisque firing here I will move the paragon in the same place as the rest of everything. There is generally no one there so disruptions should be kept to my own imagination with no outside influences(such as kids, wife, market temptations, etc.) though I am only planning on being a weekend potter right now as I need this weekly market casino to maintain a steady cash flow at present.

*Here's a side note that may be, no, is mostly responsible for this recent burst of desire to get back into clay. The school my oldest daughter attends(private) is in dire need of an art teacher. I relayed the message to one of my old college cronies back in the midwest, who is more than qualified for the job. He has been the most instrumental person in motivating me into doing my clay. It is my hopes that he gets the job teaching here for the December semester. With him in town, I can foresee many good things happening. This is something I have been longing for for many years.

If I wasn't so damn paranoid about those "simple twists of fate", I would this one is in the bag and the sculpture will follow in short order. But alas, I have learned disappointment is more the norm in my life. Who knows, perhaps this time will be different.

Okay, two Advil's with the first swig of coffee, I'm going to venture out and see if I can muster up a repeat of yesterday..........

P.S> I realize you don't celebrate Thanksgiving up your way, but hope you had a nice weekend just the same. Weather has been co-operating with us as of late. Keep those fingers crossed.
