Not a neat and tidy picture. No, Karen, I don't think it is neat or tidy. I don't think that we (all of us!)...were too concerned about the security of the U.S.A. during our years of prosperity. We were (but certainly not all) doing well. Life was easy financially and many of us became involved in the "status quo".."don't rock the boat". Our president (yours and mine)and our Congress, were making policies that we were not aware of...cutting funds to the Bureau, cutting funds to the military...and worse,curtailing the ability of our intelligence agencies to do their job. Who cared? The cold war was over and the enemy was soooo far away. We are paying for our complacency. We want our everyday freedoms and, at the same time, protection from the enemy...without or within. But, we're finding that we can't have both. Something has to be given up. I am to blame as much as anyone else. If it's not anthrax, it will be something else. We must be vigilant and allow our intelligence/immigration agencies to be vigilant for us. Marie
