Re: Back when IBM was showing it off, I can believe that Intel felt differently, but now I think the more likely scenario is that Intel's research is bringing SOI into mainstream, while AMD's is relying on an implementation that will become obsolete in future generations LOL!!! When AMD has SOI, it's bad and unnecessary, but when Intel has SOI it's good and required. Like Copper. Like DDR. And, two years from now when it's too late, a backwards compatible 64bit X86 instruction set.
