I feel pretty much the same way you do. I would really like to get a better handle on GNSS. I seriously doubt they have a gorilla presence like QCOM has with patents on CDMA. Perhaps it is more a first mover advantage like NVDA but that is just a guess. I want to find out what kind of threat the big guys like Sony are with their in house solutions.

When we see entry level pc's with high speed dvd rewriters bundled with color laser printers/scanners and flat screen monitors...

We already have that at the mid level. Sony has a unit with built in DVD-RW in the $2K range. Gateway and others are pushing the 15" flat screens by offering them as a $230 upgrade on $699 entry level system. Apple is pushing them really hard (http://www.apple.com/displays/).

I bet we are ~6 months away from what you are thinking. The third party guys will drive the external DVD-RW from $500 down to $200 pretty fast. Flat screen depends on how much competition there is. I need to learn more about the market.
