Hi Michael, not 'certain', but given the circumstances, I am not surprised.

We know Rumsfeld wanted them all dead.
We know their captors were generally happy to kill them [many times they said they'd kill all foreign Taleban]
We know that they were enthusiastic about the destruction of the WTC and people in it and in the aircraft and actively supporting more of the same.

The situation is totally different from that during the war against Iraq.

Personally, I'm happy that they be killed because if they are let back on the loose, I suppose they will continue to do what they have said they would do.

I'm happy to read between lines and look for 'who benefits' and figure out for myself why things happen. I seem to usually be right.

Given the intentions of the captors, it's not surprising that things ended like that. What do you think the chances of any more Taleban surrendering are? Zero is the answer. They know they'll be killed.

So, it's going to be Osama's Last Stand or Osama's Last Laugh.
