Re: Ottilie latest anthrax victim. Here's an excerpt of an article that says the anthrax spores that killed her are "naturally occurring". It also says only 18 cases of naturally occurring anthrax have been recorded in the last 100 years. Probably because no deceased has been tested for it. With all the so called modern technology, it still took a week to diagnose the first victim. Based on what did they diagnose it 100 years ago. I'd sure hate to be her hairdresser or a family member though since authorities are calling it a homicide.

"Testing has shown that the strain of anthrax that killed her was similar to strains found in other recent cases. It was a ``naturally occurring'' strain and susceptible to antibiotics, said CDC spokeswoman Nicole Coffin.

The strain's natural origin does not reduce the likelihood that it had been manufactured. Only 18 cases of natural inhalation anthrax have been recorded in the last 100 years, said Lisa Swenarski, a CDC spokeswoman in Atlanta, so the Oxford case is ``most likely the result of a criminal act.''
