Weekend Of Violence
For the first time in weeks, shots were fired at Gilo; damage was caused to a building, and IDF soldiers returned fire. The Tunnels Highway was also a target, and the road was closed for a short while... Two Israelis were lightly wounded in an attempted drive-by murder last night between Tapuach and Ariel in central Shomron... Shots were also fired last night at IDF positions on Mt. Gerizim, Mt. Eval, and north of Jerusalem; no one was hurt, and IDF soldiers returned fire.

It's not the first time, but it's still novel enough to be noteworthy: A mortar shell was fired into eastern Gush Etzion last night, not far from the memorial monument to Sarit Amrani. The young mother of three from Nokdim was murdered by Palestinian terrorists on that road two months ago. The shell was fired from a Bethlehem-area village in Area B, officially under Israeli security control. The residents of the Jewish towns in the area - Nokdim, Tekoa, and Eldad - continue to man a protest vigil nearby, although the exact spot has been moved slightly because of the mortar shell, and Arab traffic is being allowed to pass.

In today's attacks: IDF soldiers shot and wounded an Arab who was about to throw a firebomb at an army vehicle near Rachel's Tomb in Bethlehem… Palestinians fired shots at an IDF outpost near the new Har Homa neighborhood in southern Jerusalem; no one was hurt.
