The United States has strengthened its hostile policy against North Korea following the military campaign against terrorism, in a bid to make the North "another Afghanistan," the media insisted. North Korea was placed on U.S. list of terrorist-sponsoring countries after it was found to have been involved in the 1987 bombing of a South Korean airliner.

Calling for the Bush administration to scrap its "obsolete way of thinking," which prevailed in the Cold War era, the North said the United States must withdraw its troops from the South for peace and stability on the peninsula.

The United States, South Korea and Japan are scheduled to hold a meeting in San Francisco Monday to discuss the deadlock in inter-Korean relations, their future strategies in dealing with North Korea, and possible humanitarian aid for the North, Seoul officials said.
