Pete, I also agree about the money. Why can't bigtime college athletes make money? If they aren't paid, why are the coaches paid? Shouldn't it be volunteer work like Little League?

I don't know about the police yourself bit. Young Mr. Foster at UCLA will let you know that the NCAA has not completely forfeited its powers. Not that he didn't deserve it. If he is smart enough to get into UCLA, he should be smart enough to know that you can't drive a car for free. The Burke Plan for college athletes would work as follows: schools and alumni are allowed to pay or give the athletes any amount they so desire (can you say SMU #1? <G>), but they have to give exactly the same amount to academic scholarship students. I would just love to see the math nerds driving Porsches and wearing gold jewelry. Outside of Silicon Valley, I mean. <g>
