I certainly didn't interpret those remarks as a wholesale slam against the Middle Ages. The author has already stated that he didn't mean to do that. It seems to me that too much effort is being expended reading between the lines today.

Ah. Gotcha. A reaction to dissing the Middle Ages. And here I was expecting that a half dozen responses to a post would be an answer to the question raised in that post, which was "What is the overriding ethical problem with cloning?"
