Vishay Intertechnology Releases a New Power Metal Strip(R) Resistor; New Low-Profile, High-Current Inductors; And New Zener Diodes

MALVERN, Pa., Dec. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- A new Power Metal Strip® resistor; new low-profile, high-current inductors; and new Zener diodes have been released by Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH).

The new Vishay Dale WSK2512 Power Metal Strip resistor significantly improves current measuring accuracy in precision sensing, voltage division, and pulse applications. The 1-W current sensing resistor features a four- terminal, surface-mount design that allows for 1% resistance tolerance down to 1 milliohm and minimizes the influence of the copper terminals on the overall TCR characteristics, enabling precise current sensing in computer, consumer, automotive, and industrial end products. Built on Vishay's patented Power Metal Strip technology, the WSK2512 is a highly stable device that combines extremely low resistance and low RTC with strong surge-handling capabilities.

The new Vishay Dale low-profile, high-current inductors combine low losses at frequencies up to 5 MHz, low DCR values, and a height profile that is 30% lower than in conventional solutions. Designed for dc-to-dc converter and energy storage applications, the IHLP-2525CZ-01 and IHLP-5050CE-01 will be used to replace taller, larger, and/or lower-performing inductors, thus enabling lighter, thinner mobile and desktop computers, servers, cell phones, digital cameras, global positioning systems, and other handheld electronic products. Inductance tolerance for both devices is +/-20%. At full rated current, each device has an inductance drop of less than 10%. Both inductor series are now available using an entirely lead-free construction.

The new Vishay Telefunken Zener diodes feature a sharp reverse characteristic and cost-effective MiniMELF (SOD-80) packaging. The TLZ series diodes give designers 130 new options for constant voltage control applications in a surface-mount glass package, enabling high-density board layouts and simplifying high-speed assembly. The diodes offer power handling capabilities up to 500 mW at Zener voltages from 2.4 V to 56 V and reverse currents from 5 mA to 20 mA. A sharp reverse characteristic helps ensure a stable reverse voltage-even at low current levels-and promotes efficient use of power in dc-to-dc converters, PC motherboards, power supplies, consumer products, and communications systems.
