Kastel, The US is just trying to start to dismember the al-Qaeda network- Since they are headquartered in Afghanistan, they started there. The Taliban depended heavily upon al-Qaeda for finance and logistics. Once that link is broken, then the future Afghan Government composition should be of less concern to the US is my guess. The key for Iran here is whether they use this crisis to break out of their international isolation, both political and commercial, or whether Jordan, Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Turkey "grab the golden ring" instead..... In order to do the above, the Iranian Government must free itself of the influence of the "beards"....
