Tom:

Excellent post. I agree that the airport security was doing its job and there were no failsafe procedural guides for what happened 911. However those intelligence agencies get 30 billion a year, which is hardly scaling back. Those people were simply inept, not doing their jobs, ignoring warnings from foreign sources.

Annoying Bill O'Reilly was interviewing David Neeleman CEO of JetBlue, whose airline remains profitable because they based their business plan on profitable Southwest Airlines. He is not bothered about the federalization of airport security personnel. O'reilly had trouble rocking him and putting words in his mouth. Here's something interesting, every airlines and even corporate flight departments have been sent letters by the govt offering them each a share of the $30 billion Bush demanded for the bailout of the airlines. As Neeleman said, the money's there, he's not about to turn it down. However, it seems to me a smart move would be to have Neeleman or someone from Southwest Airlines restructure American, United and Delta so they become efficient and profitable and don't need the American public to fix things for them.
