I agree. It is rather like that nasty habit practiced by others on SI of inciting a gang of friends over to completely disrupt some serious thread conversation because one of the participants is considered an enemy of the people (or the state, or the cause, or whatever).

Shouting down invited speakers is not free speech it is disorderly conduct or more likely drunk and disorderly conduct.....

Now we are reduced to arguing about whether loud speech that drowns out the words of the speaker is or isn't free speech and to attributing the loudness to disorderly-ness and alcohol.

Actually, it is not rowdiness, it is strategy. The plan, made in advance and made sober, is not to let those with whom they disagree be heard.

And of course to intimidate and silence those dissidents from their views who might be inclined to come to their campuses and speak in the future.

I am repelled at attempts to cast a chill over the free expression of ideas, including ideas counter to mine.

Now spoofs, that's another thing. Satire has a long and honorable tradition in America. Had I understood the satirical nature of the thread, I would have joined in long ago.
