What's the fun in that? LOL
Sure, timing the market helps to maximize gains, but nobody can do it consistently, let alone profitably. The stock market is about making money, no doubt, and it's about using business sense and knowledge of economics.

But there is the visceral aspect, too. I know I can make money counting cards and playing single deck blackjack. But I enjoy the thrill of craps. I don't look at the stock market as a casino, but there is an element of it there. I have to say, nothing was more thrilling than the day I bought my first stocks, and turned them over about a month later at a 50% gain. It was fun and exciting, not to mention profitable.
