Well, either way, it is not very likely that paramilitary forces will be able to defeat the United States. I was only talking about the relative merits of guerilla warfare over undiluted terrorism.......

The force in Somalia did not fail. The forces involved fought off an entire city full of armed thugs for over an entire day and night. Hundreds of the thugs (over 500) were killed while the US lost less than 20 men. The failure was a result of the Clinton Administrations (Les Aspin) refusal to allow the military to arm and equip the ground force as it saw best for the mission.
