Hi Graham,

Yep, I expect that the US dollar will weaken period (except maybe against our sad Canadian looney sigh) and I don't believe in putting all my eggs in the gold basket for insurance (my time frame is not tomorrow though). I'm also looking at Euro instruments and yield in general, hence my participation in these trusts. I look at it as multi national form of Georges's welfare :o)

FAX is paying a nice 13% with the possibility of appreciation if the dollar falls. I'm looking at alternatives in Canada because of the foreign tax withheld which knocks about 1,5% off my return each payout. I'm new to this too so I need to do some more tax research but I suspect it is a Canada / US thing and if so a Canadian equivalent would be better.
