Claude:

I think that major bottoms are the same as major tops in that they are driven by psychology. At tops we see euphoria and at bottoms we see despair. Probably there is still enough floating supply to satisfy existing needs at these prices and the holders have despaired and are giving up and liquidating. Once this capitulation is complete and there are only strong holders who will not sell at these levels the market will rise. Also, gold and silver tend to move in very long cycles and several "authorities" have identified both gold and silver as being at or near long term bottoms.

It is my view that a huge upside exists which will probably begin gradually, but once the public begins to understand that inflation has not disappeared from the face of the earth and will be the new order of the day, the psychology will change and gold and silver will have their day. Soon, I hope.
