"Good companies are still good companies during bear markets"... and bad companies are still bad companies even in bull markets. As for stocks, anybody familiar with the concept of valuation would not have been so foolish as to buy at the top of the market and ride it into the toilet. We could debate the "quality" of AMZN if you like, but the valuation of the stock was absurd -- and you bought it.
