From Herb Greenberg at TheStreet.com this am

From one reader this morning: "Was reading last night about Meriwether's travels in discovering the western
U.S. He recalls the Indians' many tales about buffalo killing and their
reverence for it. As you may know, buffalo are huge creatures (weighing
2000+ lbs and standing over 6' high at the shoulders) and dangerous when
wounded (buffalo can run 30+ mph), esp the large bull buffalo. But one
Indian told him that the most dangerous, loudest and scariest time was when the Indian dismounted to finally kill the wounded animal. The bull would often raise up and roar/bellow very loudly in a last gasp before his death, making him, for a moment, appear to be larger than life and more alive than at any time previous. Struck me as a possible allegory for this market."
