Charles: then Intel will highlight the x87 benches when the hammer comes out ( assuming that the Intel chips are better than the hammer in x87 )

It won't - at least unless Intel decides to beef up their FPU.

Charles,

It seems to me that Intel will highlight/emphasize any bench that shows a deficiency in AMD's chips. For example, the P4 has superior memory bandwidth. All the web sites go ga-ga over the Sandra memory bandwidth as if it means anything.

This is why we will hear a lot about SETI@Home when Northwood is released.
