I am certainly hoping that GPRS eventually reaches 40Kbps but the numbers I keep hearing are around 20Kbps.

Understanding AMR and present GSM/GPRS makes the slide easier to understand, as does following the standardazation process.

Hmmm....has Nokia heard of SMV?

They were the one of the original proponents of 1xEV-DV....you think they could figure out what the practical data rates would be for the standard.
