Hi DAK,

Actually I think that innocuous little phrase has a lot to do with the larger situation to come, or more precisely how we get out from under afterwards. What will we do with the on coming growth in the unnecessary labour pool ? I used to think the boomer demographics would take care of it but productivity is changing that.

Will we have some utopian society where a few altruistic souls toil for the gratification of the many ? Will everyone be happy being equal ? Yeah, I know I'm not talking tomorrow but it sounds more like a herd of good free range beef than people LOL I don't see a sea change in the human psyche that would accommodate that, arriving anytime soon.

As David pointed out the farm workers coming to the city, so where will the city workers go ? I think you pointed out all those unnecessary 'service jobs' ? Well many are going and they aren't coming back even in a recovery. Electronic banking, investing, drive through's, on line shopping...

All but the most efficient business is now bankrupt Fortunately none of my customers fall into that category even remotely (bankrupt I mean :o). Curiously most are family owned though.

[ooops, that's not allowed anymore, inefficient! Web servers don't drink ;o) but I prefer a nice glass of wine or a beer or the occasional cognac...
