I believe it was Will Rogers who once said: "Everyone talks about the weather, but no one does anything about it." Certainly weather is always changing. A 4 - 6 inch rise in ocean levels in the last 100 years is what I would consider a manageable rate to deal with. Man's role in weather patterns is probably far less than many might believe and certainly not worth extreme economic reaction to a natural event.

The climate is, always has, and always will be changing. Do you wish to leverage that fact into radical changes in government policies

In short YES. Let us review some world wide risks here, and consider where the most effort should be placed into making this a nice safe planet to live in.

Now, we do also have some global economic problems at the moment. Some Government initiatives will be forthcoming whether we have a Republican or Democratic USA government imho.

So where should the max effort be placed?

(1) Star Wars.
(2) Fossil fuel exploration.
(3) Alternative fuels development/nuclear energy.
(4) Energy conservation
(5) "Climate change protection"

I am leaving aside the USA armed forces revitalization for the moment. I think there is a strong case for that. Feel free to throw the ME & oil problem into the equation though.
