Consumer confidence is stratified by income level -- the bottom income quartile came in at 52 while the headlines read 72. Consumer confidence is dead among the rank and file low income earners. These are the people most likely to associate unemployment (their own in many cases), with low confidence.

This is clearly a liquidity driven stock market and economy -- a tough time to be short but also a time when markets CAN get way ahead of themselves.
