Thank you for responding, tc and napoopoo1.

I don't have disabled cookies, but your mention of security settings made me wonder if ZoneAlarm was involved....

But a guy in the Semantec Subscriptions Department, which seems to have more helpful personnel than does the Order Desk, suggested that I call digitalrivers, which is their "sales division," (how it differs from the Order Department I don't know), and get around the problem by asking for a refund on the download and ordering a CD instead. So that's what I did. 5-10 business days for delivery.

napoopoo1, you probably have these numbers, but anyway:

The Order Desk number, where they know nothing, is 800-568-9501

The Pay Through The Nose Tech Support number is 800-927-3991

The Subscriptions Department (I think that's what my scrawl says, lol), where humans are available at least, and if you get John really wants to be helpful and gives you advice like "remember to uninstall 2001," and "be sure you scan your computer and see if you have a virus," is 800-441-7234

The digitalrivers number, which also answers the phone "Symantec," is 877-255-7907
