RE: Spelling of bin Laden's name...

From the FBI Most wanted site: fbi.gov
They spell it "Usama" and use all capital letters so I can not tell if "bin" is capitalized... Those FBI dudes are clever. When in doubt, capitalize 'em all... <g>

Here are is listed Aliases:

Aliases: Usama Bin Muhammad Bin Ladin, Shaykh Usama Bin Ladin, the Prince, the Emir, Abu
Abdallah, Mujahid Shaykh, Hajj, the Director

Ha! NO OSAMA!!!

No wonder we can't find him.

Everyone keeps asking if they have seen "Osama" bin Laden.

The spelling must be throwing everyone off...
either that or it's that stupid lowercase "b"...

I'm continuing this investigation and will report my findings at a later time...
I think I'm on to something...

P.S. A search for Usama bin Laden at CNN's site returns only one bogus hit...
Perhaps CNN is a Al Qaida front...

btw...is it al Qaida or Al Qaida...
And is "al" short for Albert or Allan or Ali?

The differing spellings of these Arabic names is due to the difference in language & the different characters (IE alphabet). Journalists are spelling these names phonetically since there is no straight translation into English. Osama is just as correct as Usama.

"Can a news agency really be considered legitimate if they spell names incorrectly? I'm sure somewhere they have found documents that prove that everyone else has the spelling incorrect. <g>"

Hmmmmmmmmm......... Let's see......... FoxNews is clearly NOT a clearinghouse for the liberal viewpoint of reporting of the news.......... In fact, FoxNews tends to be more conservative in their approach to reporting news so that the public has to make up their own mind rather than have it molded with spin, bias &/or with some of the story left out............ sooooooooooo............. I'm going to assume your comments were more intentional than not......... even though that little, '<g>' is an out if you get a response to the intentional cut against FoxNews. I'm not buying that angle. <g>

FoxNews is every bit as legitimate as any major news outlet in the USA, perhaps more. One thing I like about FoxNews & their journalists is that they generally don't try to force their bias into their reporting of events like CNN, ET. AL., do so consistently........... FoxNews does like to point out the frequent mistakes their competitors make when trying to be first with breaking news (unconfirmed, etc.). FoxNews also likes to report when their competitors spin/bias/etc., of the news turns out to be pure hogwash or unbalanced & incomplete. I'm sure that galls a lot of people, but I appreciate it when the truth is exposed so I can make up my own mind based on the facts & not by some journalist/news outlet's agenda.

I'd rather have my news reported as factually as possible by reporting the whole story without any of the reporters bias reported as though it were fact. That's what FoxNews is about IMO. I'm sick of watching/reading stories that only includes information that fits the journalists pre-conceived view of events, or the story is spun to force feed their bias into it. I don't want my news to be edited &/or slanted in the hopes of molding the opinion of the general public to fit the journalists' personal bias. These journalists are more & more like stock ANALysts. They aren't exactly lying to you with what they report, but it isn't exactly the whole unwashed, unbiased truth either.

FoxNews may not be perfect, but they are more complete in their reporting of the news than most news outlets IMHO.

Clappy,

First they need to learn how they want to spell Khadaffi/Ghadaffi/Quadaffi's name.
