There is a big difference between "invisible" and "imaginary". Sorry about that. When the phrase first was coined by X, she used "imaginary," as I recall. A little while later, someone said "invisible" and we had a long discussion on which it was, invisible or imaginary. Some people opted for one, some, the other. X, at one point, used both. Invisible and imaginary friend. My brain pops out one of them sometimes and the other one other times for no apparent reason. In practice on this thread, they are not intended to be different. Now that you mention it, though, invisible sounds more neutral and is probably the better choice of the two. Actually, I pretty much stopped using either of then a while back. I don't know how I got sucked back into the term this last go round. I know I didn't bring it up. Karen
