I think the whole oil angle is and has been secondary to getting bin Laden, but it provides great opportunities for Bush bashing (and America bashing for those less discriminating) no matter what the outcome, so in that sense, it's a godsend for pundits. They can frothe if he succeeds or if he seemingly fails, as in this example, so it's a perfect situation for them no matter what. And it's a win-win-win for conspiracy theorists in particular.
