I couldn't resist, sorry. I just chimed in about the flash, John used my poor missive to post that quote from Niles. For the record, I don't think that the chip companies can channel stuff to any great extent. There just aren't that many OEMs that would be willing to buy that much more than they normally would, despite the incentives...

Niles news is few days old but Goldman came with their own theory of spillover from September. While not exactly the same as Lehman both agree that recovery is not there yet.
Also they put comments on Barrett's presentation today which boils down to that Barrett is not willing to bet that the demand pick up would continue for the remainder of the quarter.
There was a note on bloomberg ( can not recall from whom ) suggesting that it might be a good time to take the profit in Intel. After that post the price started to drop.
