Bob, going from 256 to 512k cache is good for more like 2%. Going from 400FSB to 533FSB may add another 2% to 3% (AMD got 5% to 15% going from a much more limiting 133FSB to 266FSB). So a total IPC improvement of 4% to 5% is about the best that can be expected - and that tallies nicely with the 5% premium Intel will be charging for the 2GHZ Northwood over 2GHZ Willamette.

And that means that a 2GHZ Northwood will still fail to keep up with an Athlon 1900+.

That's not worse case. I'd say 5-7% is in the ballpark.
