Well I am not sure about the destinations you mention, but NY -Zurich I had problems after December 14 until after Dec 24.

I think it has to do with which direction we are flying. It seems from what I hear American Carriers are dropping flights and dropping prices. Prices round trip to California and back are slightly higher than Mid summer prices.

As to the Euro by Jan.1 Euro is a public tender currency - e.g. you can pay for groceries in Euro. The transition time - dual currency will extend until end of February (from what I know)

Heinz said something that I thought was interesting. He mentioned that the parts of the banking world might start using the Euro as it's main reserve currency and that might possibly be the catalyst that drives the dollar down considerably. I hope I did not butcher what Heinz said. <g> I would imagine that starting Feb 1st the Euro will go up in relation to the dollar because of public demand, but the pressure from central banks won't be until after the transition period and that's when a real slide might happen.
I plan to convert most of my Dollars into Euro's before Christmas.
