<<One-size-fits-all computing went out a long time ago.>>

not in the business segment of the market. in fact, consolidation and uniformity is back in vogue. the business/government market for IT is X times larger than the consumer segment and the pc model is going :bye, bye" to the internet model of centralized computing.

for msft to be a player in the internet business market they would need to buy ibm, or sunw/orcl, or cpq/hwp/sap, sap and it ain't goin happen before its too late.

rocky.

One-size fits all was never there, but one-size fits most is definitely being implemented in many places, with Citrix, Sun thin clients etc. And the number of installation grows as the clients get more useful.
