I never could bring myself to read that. Isn't it about a couple of policemen killed in LA?

It's a gritty story. Have read the book when it was new and saw the movie. Another good one was The "Choirboys". My favorite line from that one was when the rookie who was partnered with the grizzled old veteran cop asked the veteran about being in love. The rookie had busted a hooker and then fell for her. He asked how he could know if it was true love or something less. The veteran tells him, "You know it's real true love if you'll eat the peanuts out of her shit". That has to be one of the funniest lines Wambaugh wrote in any of his books. If you know of a funnier line please post it.
