I think the point is that beliefs may be pro-active and not merely simpering.

Beliefs can be pro-active without being violent and introspective without being simpering.

The world has not become so PC that people can no longer discuss or express differences.

Expressing differences is healthy...repeating a mantra to another is tedious and pointless.

As religious groups massacre people in wars all over our planet...I will not humour their frigging imaginary friends.

And why should you? Massacring millions in god's name is appalling. But that doesn't make the god imaginary!

I forget who said this quote: "the price of freedom is eternal vigilance". But I believe that vigilance is necessary for the survival of the human race...

I think your reference is to John Curran?
It is the common fate of the indolent to see their rights become a prey to the active. The condition upon which God hath given liberty to man is eternal vigilance; which condition if he breaks, servitude is at once the consequence of his crime and the punishment of his guilt.
