Queensland, AU – Mark Harris, an armed robber, disguised himself with sunglasses, a surgical mask and a cap while he pulled off a series of holdups and bank robberies. He made one very important mistake however. He wore shorts. Ian Haberfield, writing for news.com.au, reports that the mans very knobby knees were captured by the banks security cameras. Police had already suspected Harris. When he was showed the video “evidence”, he pleaded guilty . Harris is now serving an eight year sentence. His capture and successful prosecution are based upon the use of Queensland’s new “Armed Robberies Images Database (ARID). The system stores security camera images and allows comparisons for cops looking for similarities. How about we call this one, “Knobby Knee Identification”, a new biometric?
