Too much discretionary income. When people have discretionary income it always appear one to try to get it. In the bubble case it was the stock market.

Bite your tongue. Are you saying my pot of gold is not there? Darn, I guess it time to retool.

Actually I like playing, exploring and sometimes investing in areas that are so out of favor. Optics this fall seemed to be the mirror image of Optics 18 months ago. But beyond the sensation and dreams, there are alot of changes (hardware, software, and archetectural design) that are reaching fruiting in real deployment (or at least field test) in the wake of the VC spending binge in the sector. So I will keep snooping, and reading what the experts like yourself have to say.
