Amein, that is quite right, the problem perceived by non Muslims is that those same verses which were directed to specific cotemporal situations are now being interpreted by some Muslims as to be time universal. Without a mechanism that restrains these deviants, they impose danger on Islam itself. Zeev

Amein, I am not precluding scripture meant only for a certain time. If the scripture is close ended for a certain time, place and people, that's what it is. But the first thing is, when you read other parts of the Qu'ran, and when we address the other verses I posted,, you will see the violence come up over and over again throughout the Qu'ran and Hadith. So, we must weigh the Qu'ran in its total form, and violence is a flowing theme through the Qu'ran. And this one verse is reinforced in another part of the Qu'ran as well. But let's save the violence theme conversation and other verse conversation and stick to the specific verse we are talking about. You say, "and please keep in mind, there is no author or writer perspective in it." How can you say this? The writer flipped verses around, and actually contradicts the pilgrimmage verses with verses from earlier in the chapter? That is not an author imposing his will upon scripture to make it sound the way he wants to make it sound? If you do not think this is the writers perspective that he imposes upon us, even when the guy contradicts scripture and flips it around, you are ignoring the obvious. Amein, if you would please address my position and tell me where I am wrong about the contradiction issue and the flip flopping of verses, I would appreciate it! God Bless, IGIT
