...that Amazon would be insolvent by Spring, 2001. Wasn't that yours?

No. I stated working capital would be suffciently low that Amazon could not have full access to inventory. My assertion was/is correct. The vendor insurers stopped selling to Amazon. That was documented granted by unamed sources but in respectable press. It was refuted by Curry. However, inventory levels dropped extremely low and Amazon teamed up with Circuit City. Amazon is not holding electronics inventory of their own of any scale. They are dependant upon Circuit City. Electronics is capital intensive business and Amazon was no longer receiving shipments. You will see many references on Amazon's electronics main pages that point to Circuity City. Pick up your purchase and no shipping required. Look at

circuitcity.com

and you will see no mention of Amazon. This is clearly a benefit to Circuit City and Amazon has access to inventory to sell in return. I would speculate this deal was not made by Amazon from a position of strength.

Cash and working capital are not the same. Technically, Amazon would have no working capital had AOL not provided $100 million in the summer.

I am not trying to make a case that is way off beat. Rather, Amazon would not have been able to function in the electronics arena had it not been for both AOL and Circuit City. I stand by that belief.
