Intel's fabrication process takes 8 to 10 weeks to complete a wafer from start to finish.

Q1 and Q2 of almost every year are Intel's slowest quarters - that is a SEASONAL FACTOR bourne out for many years.

Cutting back on raw materials in November and December would be normal for reduced demand and manufacturing for the following quarters - Q1 & Q2 2002.
